Comedian Ken Dodd has been forced to cancel a number of shows after being admitted to hospital.
The 80-year-old star has had a hernia operation at a Liverpool hospital, according to his spokesperson Robert Holmes, who also confirmed that Dodd will be back on stage next month.
A spokesperson for the Royal Liverpool Hospital said: "I've just spoken to him and he told me to say he expects to be home in a couple of days."
Dodd was reportedly taken to hospital on New Year's Eve after his sell-out performance at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall.
